Synch Your Brain to the Earth’s Powerful Frequency

Walking Meditation

The Magical Mindframe Walking Meditation

Have you ever noticed that when you are out in nature you feel happier and more at peace? That may be because our brains are vibrating at the same frequency as the earth. The earth vibrates at an average frequency of 7.83Hz known as the Schumann Resonance. It turns out that when we are in a relaxed almost meditative state— a state where we begin to tap into the wealth of creativity that lies just below our conscious awareness, our brains vibrate at the same frequency.

In nature, your body more easily tunes in to the Earth’s frequency and can restore, revitalize, and heal itself more effectively. That’s why you should add this walking meditation to your routine. What’s more, is that you’re also getting exercise which has several benefits including better sleep. Let’s get the science out of the way first.

What is the Schumann Resonance?

The Schumann resonances (SR) are a set of spectrum peaks in the Earth’s electromagnetic field spectrum.

The Earth behaves like a gigantic electric circuit. Its electromagnetic field surrounds and protects all living things with a natural frequency pulsation of 7.83 hertz on average — the so-called “Schumann resonance,” named after physicist Dr. Winfried Otto Schumann, who predicted it mathematically in 1952.

One of the main researchers on this topic, Dr. Wolfgang Ludwig, discovered that while the Earth’s vibration could be measured in nature and the ocean, it was almost impossible to measure in the city, where manmade signals such as radios, TVs, cars, buildings, phones, and the like override natural signals. He began thinking that this could have large implications on human well-being.

The Human Brain Vibrations

More than 3.5 billion years ago, life first arrived on this planet, a planet that had a natural frequency. As life started to evolve, it did so surrounded by this frequency. So, unsurprisingly, it began tuning in. When human beings came to the Earth, an incredible relationship was sparked, a relationship that science is just beginning to understand.

Interestingly, 7.83 hertz is also the human brain’s average alpha frequency in electroencephalography. Among the five main categories of brain waves, alpha waves, which stand in the middle of the scale, induce relaxation but not quite a meditative state — a state where we begin to tap into the wealth of creativity that lies just below our conscious awareness.

Synching our Brains to the Earth’s Frequency?

A great way to do this is to take a mindful nature walk listening to a recording of a tone set to the 7.83Hz.

Since 7.83Hz is under the human hearing frequency range (from 20Hz to 20kHz), you can’t hear it but you can feel its vibration. So, To hear this frequency we will need to use Binaural Beats and a pair of headphones or earbuds to help our brain synchronize. “Binaural Beats” is a term given to playing one sound frequency in one ear, and another sound frequency in the opposite ear, creating a two-tone effect that basically “tricks” the brain to perceive it to be one tone. In this case Left frequency = 68.031Hz / Right frequency = 75.861Hz. ( 75.861 – 68.031 = 7.83)

What You Need:

  • Headphones or earbuds
  • A music track of the 7.83Hz frequency (below)
  • A park or trail

Choose a trail, park or greenway where you can feel like you’re getting away. Preferably in the woods, but not necessary. Since you’ll have earbuds in and will want to focus on nature, it’s best to choose a trail free from lots of traffic.

After you’ve selected a nice trail, put your earbuds in and play the Schumann Resonance track below. The track is 60 minutes long so depending on how long you walk it should be enough. If you walk longer just restart it. Note: You must use earbuds/headphones or you will not hear the correct tone.

Instructions:

  1. Walk with intention
We’re so used to walking in what we call automatic pilot, basically being tuned out and just letting the body go. You may notice that this feels a little strange to be so intentional about walking. That’s okay. This intention that you’re bringing is a way for you to reconnect with the present moment
  2. Focus your attention
Focus on the feeling of your feet making contact with the ground. Do you notice any wildlife? If the trail is familiar to you, try to notice things in a different way. Can you let yourself experience what it’s like to be grounded and connected as you make a conscious choice to be present for this walk?
  3. Feel your surroundings.
Allow yourself to feel the impact of the air on your skin. What do you notice? Is it warm or cool? Is the air damp or dry? Allow yourself to feel it.
  4. Notice when thoughts take over.
Once you notice your thoughts trying to hijack your walk, you may also notice that being lost in thought makes it more difficult to connect with your senses. So, when you feel the thoughts are pulling you away, just acknowledge them and gently release them to redirect your attention back to your felt senses and even more particularly, back to the feeling of your feet walking.

7.83Hz Schumann Resonance Binaural Beat

Set the volume to where it’s just above audible range and not too distracting. Remember you need headphones for this to work properly.

Most people try to do this walking meditation for at least 30 minutes a couple of times a week and can notice a significant change in their mood, but if you don’t have a lot of time, just a few minutes here and there could make a difference.

We hope you’ll give this a try and let us know what you think.
